El Paso
Online Therapy for El Paso
El Paso sits at the far western edge of Texas, closer to New Mexico and Mexico than to most other Texas cities. That makes online counseling practical, and it makes one licensing rule especially important.

The Location Rule on the Border
I am licensed in Texas, and a counselor can only work with clients who are physically located where they hold a license. In most of Texas that rule rarely comes up. In El Paso it can come up weekly. If you live in El Paso but work in Las Cruces or elsewhere in New Mexico, or spend time in Ciudad Juárez, our sessions need to happen while you are on the Texas side.
That is a licensing requirement, not a judgment about you. In practice, it simply means choosing session times when you know you will be in Texas: at home, at work or parked somewhere private.
Mountain Time, an Hour Behind
El Paso runs on Mountain time, an hour behind most of Texas. When you schedule through the SimplePractice portal, double-check the time zone on your appointment so a session does not sneak up on you or slip past. It is a small thing, but it is one of the quirks of living in the only major Texas city on Mountain time.
Fort Bliss Families
With Fort Bliss on the city's doorstep, many El Paso households know military life: training cycles, deployments, reassignments and long stretches of one parent holding the home together. Those seasons are life transitions for everyone in the family, including teens who have to start over at a new school.
I do not run a military-specific program and I do not bill insurance, but counseling can still help with the stress, loneliness and adjustment that come with this life.

Where you are sitting matters more than where you live. On the Texas side, we can meet.
Students at UTEP
For students at UTEP or El Paso Community College, college can mean juggling classes with work and family responsibilities. If you are living at home and helping your family while you study, finding time for yourself can feel impossible. Online sessions fit between all of it, from a parked car on campus or a quiet room at home.
Far From the Rest of Texas
El Paso's distance from other Texas cities can mean fewer options when you are looking for a counselor who fits. Telehealth widens that circle. You can work with a Texas-licensed counselor from the West Side, the East Side, the Northeast or the Mission Valley without a long drive. It also means your choice of counselor is not limited to whoever happens to practice nearby.
One practical note: sessions with me are held in English.
What We Can Work On
In El Paso as anywhere else in Texas, we can work on anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, relationships, grief, transitions and stress. My approach combines cognitive behavioral therapy with a client-centered stance and practical, solution-focused steps.
There is no office to visit; every session happens by secure video while you are in Texas. My page on online therapy anywhere in Texas explains more, and how online therapy works covers the setup.
Common Questions
- Can we have a session if I am in Ciudad Juárez or New Mexico that day?
- No. Because I am licensed in Texas, you need to be physically in Texas during each session. If you know you will be across the line, we can schedule for a time when you are back on the Texas side.
- What time zone are sessions scheduled in?
- Check the time zone shown on your appointment, because El Paso is on Mountain time and most of Texas is on Central time. Confirming it once in the portal is the easiest way to avoid a missed session.
- Can Fort Bliss families work with you?
- Yes, as long as you are physically in Texas during sessions. The practice is self-pay and does not bill insurance. If you are reassigned within Texas, our sessions can continue; a move out of state would mean wrapping up and finding a counselor where you land.
- What if I move back and forth between El Paso and Las Cruces?
- Then we schedule around the days you are in Texas. Some weeks that may take a little planning, and that is fine. What matters is where you are sitting during the session, not where you sleep at night.
